Ft. Worth, TX - The TCU Horned Frogs opened up their campaign with a 15-2 win over Centenary College. Both team braved freezing temperatures to kick-off their LSA seasons. Leading the way for the Horned Frogs was Davis Felder with 6 points (3G, 3A). TCU started the shooting early scoring 5 goals in the first quarter.
Centenary would score their lone first half goal in the second quarter. TCU continued to push the ball and would take an 8-1 lead into halftime. During the second quarter TCU was paced by Charley Lloyd was impressive dishing the ball out two times to his teammates and allowing them to score. Freshman Chris Stolmeier recorded his first collegiate goal with 4 minutes left in the quarter.
After half time with the temperature dropping, the pace of shooting for the Horned Frogs did not drop. In fact some new faces on the roster were able to get into the scoring column. Freshman Aleck DaGrosa also registered his first goal in the middle of the third quarter and just missed getting his second minutes later. The quarter would come to a close with the Horned Frogs up 13-1.
The fourth quarter allowed teams the chance to run up and down the field. The new faces on TCU were able to see a lot of playing time and again a freshman was able to register his first collegiate point. Jon Brereton scored his first goal at TCU on another feed from Charley Lloyd to bring the score to 14-1. Michael Burciaga finished off the scoring for TCU off a nice assist from Chris Stolmeier.

The 2010 TCU Men's Lacrosse team will take the field for the first time of the spring today.  The team is loaded with a solid core of veterans.  In addition the Lax Frogs have added 6 new players to the team.  TCU looks to continue their improvement and surpass last years win total and reach the LSA Playoffs.

The first meeting of the year will take place at the Rickel Recreation Center Room 048.  Wednesday January 13th 2010.  The room is located on the bottom floor of the recreation center.  Meeting starts at 8:30 pm.  We will have various forms to fill out that are required by the recreation department.

In addition we will review the schedule changes and practice times for the year.

On Saturday, March 20, college lacrosse will return to Dallas for the fourth annual Patriot Cup. Returning MCLA National Champion University of Michigan will take the field at SMU’s Gerald J. Ford Stadium to face‐off against the University of Oregon.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, a non‐profit organization which seeks to assist men and women of our armed forces who have been severely injured during conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan and other locations around the world.

“The Patriot Cup has grown beyond our expectations in the last four years. With the addition of the National Champion Michigan, we now have the Big‐10 facing off against the Pac‐10, which further highlights Dallas as the place to see lacrosse played at its best,” said Tom Fitzsimmons, president of the North Texas Chapter of U.S. Lacrosse and the Patriot Cup committee chair. “No sport has grown faster at the high school and college levels over the last five years.”

The 2010 Patriot Cup will showcase some of the nation’s premier collegiate and high school programs. In addition to the Michigan/Oregon game will be three of the nation’ top NCAA Division III teams for a total of three games. Western New England College (Ranked 9th in 2009), Nazareth College (#19) and Bowdoin College (#20) will practice and play each other in Dallas, culminating with the WNEC v. Nazareth game at SMU Ford Stadium on Saturday. SMU and Texas A&M University will square off in the nightcap at Ford Stadium for the second consecutive year.

Local high school teams St. Mark’s School of Texas, Episcopal School of Dallas and Highland Park High School will serve as event hosts and also compete at Ford Stadium on March 19‐20. The local schools will take on top‐ranked lacrosse teams Loomis Chaffee (Connecticut) and Mullen (Colorado).
